2 Timothy 1:1 "Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God according to the promise of the life which is in Christ Jesus". 

 

Paul calls himself an apostle of Christ by the will of God. It did not seem like being an apostle of Christ was on the agenda for Paul before he had his encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus, far from it, in fact. But God's will triumphs, ultimately. We can fight it, we can deny it, we can even die resisting it (and woe to us if we do), but God's will for the world will be done. If we surrender now, and give ourselves over to Him completely, we can save ourselves a lot of grief and regret, and help build His kingdom, just as Paul did.
