2 Chronicles 1:2 "Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges, and to all the leaders in all Israel, the heads of fathers' houses."

Today as I read this verse I am thinking of watching the speeches to the Knesset yesterday morning. I haven't seen or heard anything that filled me with such inspiration, comfort, resolve, and bittersweet joy in a long time. The Jews are God's chosen people, He has and always will have a special place in His heart for them. When they suffer, He is allowing that suffering for some purpose, but He suffers with and for them. When they are joyful, He is bestowing His blessings on them. Yesterday was a joyful day for the Jews, although one also overlaid with sorrow at what has happened since October 7th, 2023, and all of the lives that have been lost.

The joy of the Jews is almost always laced with sadness, that seems to be the way of things in this world for those who are people of God. Yesterday was a good reminder of that. We should celebrate the joys when they come, as the speeches yesterday did, even while mourning the losses that also come.
