Acts 4:32-37. Everyone who had come to believe was of one mind and soul, and none considered his possessions his own. Instead, they shared everything in common. The apostles continued to give their testimony to Christ's Resurrection with great power, and great grace was on them all. There was no one needy among the believers. Those who had possessions or houses or land sold them and laid the proceeds at the feet of the apostles to be distributed to each in need. One Levite, a citizen of Cyprus, Joseph (surnamed Barnabas by the apostles) sold a field he owned and brought the money to the apostles.

Could I live like this? I don't think so, not yet. I think I am getting closer, but I still cling to my home, my possessions, my job, many of the things that I think I "need." I am learning that the key is to be willing to give them up, if that is God's will. I have not, yet at least, been called upon to sell my house in service of God, but I may be one day. If and when that time comes, I should be ready and willing to do so. I must admit that I don't feel like I am there yet, so I clearly have more work to do before I am as committed as these early Christians!
